Here is a message from somebody who came to my Peugeot page. I receive
some sort of comments about my Peugeot page or about Peugeot almost every day,
but today at least one of the messages appeared to be quite relevant to our
discussion about Peugeot's misfortunate fate in the US/Canada.

Subject: Subject: peugeot returns to u.s
i strongly beleive that peugeot failure's in the u.s was mainly due to
lack of intelligence. I beleive that many Americans do buy cars not on
their perfomance, but on what they are classified in the american culture.
I have a peugeot 505 turbo, very fast comparing to other europeans cars
such as b.m.w, audi ....anyway, anytime when i went to an auto parts store,
as soon as i tell the sale persons that i have a peugeot, they always have
funny remarks about the car, as if it is a piece of junk. i have driven
acura,b.m.w, audi , saab, honestly i was not impressed at all. I think if
peugeot in the U.S it should target other europeans cars in advertisement,
then the public would know in what standard peugeot fits in. for example,
i beleive that is why the volvo 850's had so much success in the u.s it
targeted b.m.w in their ad.
