I think it is perfectly OK for Peugeot personnel to bring cars into the
US (pay the bond fees, etc.) and ship those cars then back. I know (if
the car meets certain requirements, like the fuel one) you can bring in
a car for about one year. Like one can drive Canadian car in the US
without changing speedomer or whatever else he/she has to change. As a
visitor, on a temporary basis.
What I doubted was that a company would bother importing a vehicle for
testing in the US (driving it through all climatic zones and, hiring
local drivers and going through all the foolishness) without any plans to sell
the same vehicles in the United States, just for no reason whatsoever.
Although, cynics might say that no reason may as well be the reason.
Very PSA-like at least.
