Question: I want to put a 2 ltr. engine into my 504 GL 1.8 ltr. aut. SEDAN
I own a '79 504 GL 1.8 Automatique and a '78 504 Ti 4-speed. The GL is a
very beautiful car but the engine isn't that good. The Ti is a donorcar.
Both engine's are bad so I have to chose between spending money on the 1.8
or 2 ltr. I would like to make the car a bit faster so I was thinking
about:
1. putting the 2 ltr. in my GL togther with the 4-speed. Possible?
2. Can I put carburators (two) on the 2 ltr. and if so which make/model?
The injection
doesn't work 100%. Fuel cons. isn't important, fuel emissions are.
3. How much HP can I get out of the 2 ltr. with minimum (min. is not having
to sell my house) changes/costs and still have a reliable engine?
4. Can a 3-speed automatic handle a 2 ltr. engine? (I don't mind shifting
gears but
I like this automatic.)
5. I want to make the car stiffer. Which springs (perhaps of the Break:
rear?) or are there special springs and shocks, they used to
race these cars back in the 70- ties. Comfort isn't that
important, handling is. Stabiliser's perhaps?
6. Do you know of a 504 with a V6 engine? Is this possible? I'm only
asking!
Don't think I'm crazy, I like this Peugeot (my granfather's) very much but
now it is too slow for the traffic here in Holland. I own other cars, a
Fulvia/Iso Rivolta Fidia/etc., and these cars are much easier to drive in
today's traffic. So if you can help me please let me know.
