If Peugeot wants to test the waters again, then here is what they should do.
1. Peugeot makes an EV version of the either the 306 or 205 (not too sure)
2. There is a great push for US car companies to make EV cars.
3. California still has, though weakened a mandate for Electric Vehicles
4. Many government owned, Municipal, Infrastructure, etc.. companies are
using different means of fuel in their fleet vehicles.
5. Peugeot needs to re-enter the US market, I really feel there is no
other choice.
So what does this mean to me?
#2 on my list needs a cheap and already R&Dd #1 (the Pug EV)
Maybe the reason Peugeot cannot find a partner is that they are not
bringing anything to the table. I think if a company could meet future
quotas for pollution free vehicles, and Peugeot could get its foot back
in the door, then that would be a good partnership. What about a
partnership with say AM General? (No PUG/Hummer jokes please!) Why not?
AM General used to (dont know if they still do) supply the US Postal
service with fleet vehicles, so they may have inroads on government
contracts. They supply the US Military with a variety of vehicles. They
have a good parts distribution system. They have a small network of
dealerships.
