Subject: 405 Headlamp Recall

I've seen the official Peugeot Recall Notice. Here's the highlights:

- as usual, wait for your recall notice in the mail. If you are not the
original owner contact Peugeot to make sure you are registered with them

- there are two kinds of headlamps. Valeo and I believe Neiman. The latter
are the bad ones. If you have a early 405, you most certainly have the
Neimans (name?)

- Peuegot has instructed the dealer to remove a/r the lamp to ascertain
whether it is good or bad type at no charge to the owner. (Allow 1 hr+
of service time when you take it in)

- if bad, of course it will be replaced. As this is a safety hazard item
I didn't see and don't expect that age/mileage means a thing (just like
the 505 wagon fuel tank saddle recall)

As my own 405Mi16 was in the first boat load of Mi16's to hit these
shores (I known this for a fact), it has the bad headlamps. Mine are not
too yellow as I have low miles and garage storage.
