Spark plugs and Formula One

Hello everyone

About spark plugs:

I installed the highly touted Bosch platnums in my 504 V6 when I first
put the motor in. I had succumbed to being told they were the "best".
They worked fine until I experienced a very strange engine miss. It
gradually got worse, to a point where the car no longer ran. After
towing the car to a friend's garage, I proceeded to tear into the
engine expecting the worst. I found the compression to be 140-145 on
all six, all plug wires within spec and each plug was getting spark,
plugs were gapped properly, the distributor and rotor were new (tested
anyway for continuity), the points and condenser were perfect, and the
fuel was being delivered. This was a simple car yet I found no faults.
The mechanic in the garage was clueless.

For some unknown reason, I decided to hook up the plug wires without
the boots on the wires. (the "boots" are the rubber plugs that seal the
plug holes from filling with crap. The plugs themselves are located on
top of the engine, and recessed about 5 - 6 inches straight down) When
I cranked the motor over with the push button starter, I started
looking for anything weird. Weird is what I got, the plugs were
leaking the voltage out where the ceramic top meets the metal threaded
nut. Four out of six plugs were affected! I saw little electical
storms in each hole as the motor turned over. I showed the mechanic
and my friend/owner of the shop and they were speachless. I replaced
them with NGK v-grooves, and have never any problems. I am trying to
get the silver tipped Bosch for my Turbo and my V6's, but have been
unable to source the part numbers. Anyone got an idea what they are?

On Formula One:

Peugeot is widely known to, one of the best, if not thee best motor in
Formula One. The problem lies with Jordan. I am personally hoping
Team Prost gets the motor for next season, along with Olivi??? Panis,
for an all french team.

Talk to you soon
