Glen:

The red Konis are rebuildable and adjustable . And when they get a
little worn you can put thicker oil in them same as a 505. I've got hyd.
Konis in a '70 304 SW that I have worn out a couple 304's with . They went
to Guatemala and back the back way. If I can't get some for my 405 DL I'm
going to try and basteredize them into the front of my 405. Spax makes some
rebuildable shocks for ralleying they could be an alternative. I like a
stiff shock new Peugeot shocks are OK but after a couple years I find them
a little mushy I think the -40 winters kill them. If only Peugeot would put
drain and refill plugs into the struts then I could change the shock oil at
winter and spring to an apropriate viscosity. Motorcycles did it.
Even the 59 Consul did it. I guess I'll have to modify my own struts .

PS I've had hydraulic Konis in my '85 S wagon for 3 years now and they
are still perfect after 3 winters and 50,000mi. The previous owner had put
in Gabriels or Munroes ; God they make crummy shocks just slightly worse
than the KYB.
