I just had to vent over this past weekends events. Tragedy
struck....or to be more specific, dead trees struck. My beautiful 86'
505 Turbo was patiently waiting for its new strut housings (which
arrived Friday) so that I could fix her up for summer. Sunday morning
while I was working in the shop, my friends entered to tell me that two
trees just fell on our cars! The cars were parked beside the shop,
next to a stand of trees. A sudden gust of wind later and the
previously unscathed Turbo (read mint body and paint!) was wearing two
dead trees. One tree struck the rear passenger side, right above the
fuel door. It dented the fender and the trunk. The other tree came
down hard on the A-pillar. It shattered the windshield, bent the
a-pillar, and continued down scatching the hood and passenger fender.
Now comes the the real kick in the head. It was unlicenced! I had no
use for the car as it was disabled, so I cancelled the plates until I
got my parts, which was two days previous (can't licence cars over the
weekend up here.)
The only good news is I found a guy with a 85 to 86 505 Wagon for $500
cdn. There is no rust except for some surface rust on the rear quarter
panels, interior is mint, no dents. Mileage is at 130000km. The car
doesn't run, the owner suspects the pick-up module in the distributor,
but I have not checked it out personnally. Actually the description is
from the previous owner so I have to verify all his comments. If
nothing else, I may get it to part it out.
Sad and upset,
