Are you saying that like the MI16 engine the 1.9i engine is designed so that
if the timing belt goes the valves will hit the pistons?? I ask this
because while I agree that changing a timing belt is cheap and a good thing.
I want to know the consequences. For instance, a VW rabbit gas engine is
not harmed by a timing belt failure but a VW rabbit diesel engine is.
I am not arguing weather it is a good thing to do, I just want to know how
the engine is built and what will happen if the belt fails, Say at 1000 miles.
