405 windshield metal molding

Question: is there some trick to replacing the metal molding around the
windshield on a 405??? Both my 405's windshields have cracked and been
replaced, and getting the metal molding to stay in the rubber slots seems
impossible. I've replaced them several times, and they fly off
regardess...very expensive at $40 -$60 a round.

(And why do my last 3 Pugs all get cracked windshields?)

I've tried epoxy on them to no avail.
