Philip,

I, too, kept my XU9J2 below 3,500 RPM - not because I wanted to baby it,
but because the damn thing won't rev up any higher - until the cat
converter got "expunged" and the 405 ressurected. For the first time since
I've been its owner this car reached 4,500-5,000 RPM and it took it
remarcably well: smooth performance with lots of power to spare. Not a
"flat curve" as has been mentioned earlier on this forum, and definitely a
"sweet spot" @ 4,500 RPM as Robert Cullemore characterized it in a post a
couple of months back.

I was under the impression that 4HP13s in 405s are "bulletproof" and Pat
Whale confirmed this recently. Don't remember hearing complaints about them...
