My guess would be the diesel leak, if coming from engine compartment, is
coming from the "overflow tube" (my terminology) at the injector pump
unless you see leaks at the injector tubing or injectors themselves, or
return line. The overflow tube normally doesn't leak unless the pump is
beginning to fail internally so I hope that's not the case. The tube I'm
talking about leaves the pump near the "inside" rear and points in
toward the block (it just plain "dumps").

I've heard the 4speed is week but Brian knows more about that. If you
don't want to keep it, I live in Sacramento and would love to give it a
try - I'd try to match the 3speed auto trans to that engine and have
been told it's possible.
