505 chrome Trim

I pulled the plastic grills on my SWs because the silver looking finish
looked bad. I removed the remainder with a wire wheel lightly brushing,
Then repainted with flat black and painted the Lion with gold leaf.
Looks great!! Now I notice the chrome surround on the headlights would
look better black. The chrome around the side windows has been a
constant problem came painted black; constantly have to refinish. Has
anybody use blackout tape on this chrome or is their another solution?
