Hi

Just a note to say high revs and the 4HP14 tranny don't seem to mix.
After renting "Mad Max" (and clearing high rev operation with my tranny
repair shop) I went out to the expressway on-ramp and prepared to test
the forbidden zone, of high revs.

The car is going to the transmission shop on Monday...

After reaching 4000-4500rpm's a the transmission downshifted hard but
otherwise ran and shifted fine. The next day however, the transmission
didn't disengage at a stop and the engine stalled. The car then
wouldn't engage in a forward gear. After setting for 30 minutes the
"clutch soleniod" apparantly released and the transmission resumed
normal operation.

Tonight on the way to the airport, it did something similar. As I exited
the freeway, the car slipped out of gear and than refused to engage in
any forward gear. (It went into reverse real OK) After sitting for 40
minutes the car once again resumed normal operation and I carefully
nursed it home.

This transmission was wholly rebuilt in June of 96 (it has 15,000 mi on
the rebuild) and the fluid had been completely flushed last February.
I don't know how the high revs and the tranny failure are related, I
hope to find out and I'll let you know when I do. But for now I'm going
to leave the forbidden zone to trained professionals and be content to
dolt around in the low rev zone.

BTW the car had been in the shop most of the week getting a new A/C
blower, brake pads, and speedo cable. I just got it back today!! My
wife refuses to utter the word "Peugeot" she's starting to refer to the
car as simply "it".
