Yesterday I saw the new 306 cab for the first time. It looked very nice
from the angles I saw it. It was on the hoist for most of the time (and no
it wasn`t already broken, they were putting on a black piece of platic onto
the bottom of the front skirt.).
It now has 15" wheels which are very nice but they, like the 505 wheels,
have no centre hub so balancing could be a real problem. It has the 2 litre
16 valve engine from the 406 engine so it should be quite potent. The
interior has also been changed and it very nice. There is a digital
odometer and and a few other things. The door linings is the same funny
material as in the 406 but black. The seat are very nice but still too wide
for my liking (for the rich, larger, business man I suppose). The front of
the car now looks more like the 406 with similar style PLASTIC headlights.
After the U/S 405 recall that really suprised me. The front skirt has been
changed and now has a bigger intake and has round fogs (or maybe they are
spotties).
The car will go for something like A$50,000 with leather. It will be
interesting to hear the magazine reports about it's performance. I might
just have to have a test drive. No - bugger that, I'll wait for the GTi-6 :)
