My post of earlier today, re subject, has generated some interest;
however, some memories have to be jump started.

Car #1 - Burgundy SW purchased new by my daughter in July 1986. Was
repainted (same color) in early 1992 but has since faded. No rust. Dark
gray leather upholery which is in good condition; no splits, tears,
unraveling. Floor mats have always been used. The car was in one
accident in 1988 which required the replacement of the front grill and
hood. The automatic transmission was replaced at approximately 99,000
miles. Has a 2.2 Liter OHC turbo charged gasoline motor with inter
cooler. This motor still runs; in fact, sounds pretty good (I am no
mechanic).Odometer reads 158,600 but that is overstated by about 30,000
miles. Odometer was registering 1 mile for every 1/10 actually traveled
for a period of time before it was repaired. Alloy wheels. While this
car still be driven, there are noises in the rear end which, according
to two mechanics, are coming from the differential.

Car #2 - Gray SW which I purchased new in July 1986. Paint has faded; no
rust. Dark blue cloth fabric upholstery in very good condition; no
tears, broken threads. Always used floor mats. This car has never been
in an accident. Automatic transmission. Has a 2.2 Liter OHC turbo
charged gasoline motor with inter cooler. The motor still runs; sounds
good. It was checked by a Pug mechanic early this year. Odometer reads
118,800 but that is understated since it quit early this year. My
daughter estimates that another 5,000 to 6,000 miles should be added for
a trurer reading. Alloy wheels. The cable in the release mechanism to
fold down the back rest of the rear seat is broken. My daughter drove
this car until early March, 1997 when the rear end went. By that I mean
the differential, which is what the mechanics say. This car does not
move under its own power. I gave this car to my daughter in 1993 with
the thought that she could use it as a source for parts.

Both cars are located just outside Smyrna, Delaware, which is just north
of Dover on US Route 13. Smyrna is less than 40 miles south of
Wilmington; less than 75 miles south of Philadelphia; about 85 miles
east of Baltimore; about 100 miles east of Washington; and less than 175
miles south of New York city. If anyone wants to see these cars, just
give me the date and hour. Will be glad to answer any and all questions
provided they are not too technical and thus beyond my bit of knowledge.

There is still a lot of good stuff on these cars. I would hate to see
them hauled off to the junkyard.
