My 405 DL is in the tranny shop and so far so good, they haven't found
anything and haven't been able to replicate the tranny problem.
The tech, however commented that the car's performace was very poor. He
said it felt like the exhaust was being restricted and thought the cat
might be blocked. I had just replaced the cat a year ago with a $100
midas muffler cat. It's noisy but otherwise I thought it was fine - now
I'm not so sure. I remembered that some of you had taken your cats out,
and commented that the performance was much better.
I was looking for comments on how you would characterize your 405
performance without a cat (or with a cat for that matter), especially
uphill. My 405 stinks going uphill. (I have to floor it to keep it
accelerating)
Also can anyone comment on the wisdom of putting a midas universal cat
on the 405? (At the time it seemed like a good idea but now that I
better appreciate these car's performance features I'm not so sure it
was a good decision.)
All of this is especially disappointing in that I had just replaced the
oxy sensor and the car's performance is the best it's been in recent
memory. (Imagine how bad it was before)
I'm afraid I'm going to have to replace the cat with a Peugeot OEM cat
and replace the missing pre-muffler. Ouch, because that's got to run at
least $600. Any thoughts.
