Have the cat cut out and replaced with a straight pipe,
chopping the guts out leaves a loud unpleasant sound to
the exhaust. But have it done so you can slip in an after market
cat for you emissions tests. If they dont test then just leave in the str pipe
I had a 20" piece of 2.25" pipe expanded on one end to about 2.35"
and a double flare on the other or you could ddo a single flare
and use a gasket. Any good muffler shop should be able to do this.
I think the excessive amounts of oil going down the valve guides
and through the cat is what lead to my cats premature demise.
I've got 505 XN6's w/250,000 km that aren't restricted.
