Walker makes a series of low restriction / high perf cats. I'd look into
them. Did Midas weld their new cat to the header/exhaust or add a flange?
If I were going to weld on that front pipe (again), I'd add a flange that
would accomodate a flanged cat. You might need to exchange the Peugeot
style flange for something "more US", adjusting length at the same time
for the new cat. Once you have that new flanged cat in place, exchange for
a test pipe would be a snap. I think that use of the Walker Low Res. cat
would keep you both legal and w/o worry of cat flow.
