The problem is Ray that if the joint goes dry it will damage the
cv-joint, a CV boot kit costs about $55 AUD so probably about $10 over
there (just kidding) as apposed to driveshaft rebuild $$$$ or new
driveshaft $$$$$$$$$$$$. This is a job I have done myself and is no big
deal if armed with correct tools and workshop manual.
I had a CV boot pop off the joint, problem was that it happened on the
freeway, and it wasn't until I got off the freeway a couple of hours
later and had to turn corners that I found out as the joint was very
noisy, so you can see it dosn't take long to loose the grease frm the
joint. I'd replace it ASAP.
