Jim, I recently changed the w/p on my 89 turbo (100,000 mi) .
Rad comes out, fan, belts a bit tedious
Pump comes out next, a bunch of 10mm(?), with the whole clutch =
assm.
I replaced the w/p, clutch, pulley, carbon brush. The pulley =
is pressed into the w/p shaft to a depth set by the carbon brush. Then =
the clutch is held with a special nut. =20
Kent-Moore USA sells a special tool for pulling the pulley =
off the w/p shaft if you plan to re-use the pulley.(IT ALSO HAS THE =
SPECIAL SOCKET) If the car has miles on it replace it. You don`t want to =
do the job over. =20
The pulley is pricey, perhaps you can find one without going =
to the dealer.
Might as well change the belts too.
Good Luck,=20

Water Pump Owes!

Anyone had a water pump that leaked before?
I'm use to them not pumping , this one pumps great, but it looks as if =
it is
leaking.

There is a steady drip, even when the engine is off, from one of the =
bolts.
(Darn hard to see down there even with mirrors)
=20
Anyway, I'm getting ready to pull it. (I've Taken out the radiator)

Are there any tricks any special tools( ..ie pullers etc) that will =
force me
to take it to a shop? All I have are sockets etc.

The bolts and "lock nut" look tough to get off(I haven't tried yet) on =
the
fan blad.
Is that a blanced assembly?
Should it be marked before disassembly?

Should I give in before I get too far?

Whats your ideas?

Thanks....
