You can probably remove the engine and transmission together by dropping the
engine crossmember and steering rack about 4 inches. The torque converter
is just a push fit on the transmission. It should be left on the trans if
you pull the engine separately. There are four bolts attaching it to the
flywheel flexplate on the engine, which may be removed through the starter
hole by hand-rotating the engine til each bolt appears in the starter hole.
This is the procedure on the 4-cyls anyway.
