Karl. Does it also "Clunk" if you let off the gas in a hurry? Say
for instance you are taking off from a light, giving it a moderate
amount of gas, the car upshifts into second and the car in front stops
suddenly forcing you to let off the gas. Get the picture? If it
clunks, this tells you there is slop in the drive train. Bad news,
the propeller shaft is getting ready to quit. This may not be the
problem you are having, but I have. My 87 V6 was doing this for quite
some time, then one day one of my offspring called me in a panic
stating the @#$% car will not move. Upon inspection, found the torque
tupe to be completely stripped out at the transmission end. Many
hours and around 270.00 later, the car was on the road. Ray

This last weekend I had the two front ball joints replaced. I expected that
this repair would have taken away said noise. Here is what happens:
As I decelerate (braking), I can feel a klunk at my feet.
This does not seem to be related to shifting at all since it happens whether I
am in neutral or in gear.
Any ideas? Should I simply grease the heck out of the "propeller shaft" (Haynes
manual's term for "drive shaft") i.e. use the ball joint grease nipple?
Thanks,
Karl
