Over heating XU9J4

G'day,
I have been having problems with my engine overheating. This all started
about 1 year ago. I changed the brand of plug to a silver tip brand but I
think they gave me one with the wrong temperature ratings. After this the
car started running hot. I drove it for 2,000km and then put back the
orignal brand plugs. While that, and a trial of a Fram oil filter, was the
only thing I changed I don't think it is what has caused the over heating -
but I do wonder.
Anyway, I have had a few things fixed. The themostat housing was replaced.
The switch that controls the fans was replaced (at $112) because the fans
were never coming on (this is in itself a problem - both fans come on at
92C; I thought only one was meant to) and I think that dreaded connector
was replaced. Despite this the car is still running hot.
So what do I mean hot. Well when I bought the car and for 1 1/2 years
after that, I got very worried if it got to 88C (I even took it in one time
this happened!) Now it almost goes straight to 90/92. When this all first
started happening I only had the problem when stopped. If I was driving
hard or fast the temp was around 84C. If I had to stop it shot up to 100C.
You can actually see the needle moving. In the last month, it has tended to
run hot all the time. Again, usually 92C when driving and 102C when stopped.
So what do you think is the problem? Someone has mentioned the water pump.
The car is about to have the cam belt changed which means its time for the
water pump too. I don't think it is the radiator, there are no cold spots
on it and the engine doesn't overheat when driving.
Please help, we are moving into summer here so I only expect things to get
worse.
