I think spark plug wires fail because the insolation brakes down, not
because the resistance changes. I check by going out at night with no
lights on. start the car and turn off the dome light. Let your eyes get
used to the dark.
Then rev the engine repeatedly for just a moment. You want to look while
the engine is reving, not while it is at high rpm. Look all around the
wires and coil for sparks. If you see any then replace the wires. If you
see sparks then the wires are bad. If you don't they MAY be good.
