The Matra-Simca Rancho (later known as the Talbot-Matra Rancho
after the Peugeot buyout of Simca/Roots) was a strange plastic-
bodied psudo-S.U.V. based on a front wheel drive car platform.
In a way, it was a revolutionary concept. Take a look at a Toyota
RAV-4 or Honda CR-V. Both are car/sport-ute hybrids. perhaps
Matra was just too far ahead of it's time. The Rancho's front wheel
drive was refered to as "antibog". There was a badge on the rear of
the vehicle with this word. Somehow, I don't think I would want to
take a Rancho too far off road.
