Frank,

I used 195-70 15 Nokia Hakkas on my Mi16 for a few months and they worked.
They also were able to contact the fender well liners on tight turn radii.
I also get contact with my 195-60 14 Goodyear Eagle GAs , but I let the
wheel off the steering stop whenever I hear it. There are grooves in my
liners from all of the contact.

With the 195-70s on, by buddy commented on how the Mi16 looked like a rally
car. :^)

The car definitely had a much higher final drive ratio than normal.

With the 205s, you'd probably just see a more frequent contact. I seem to
also remember some harsh-bump tire contact with the car headed straight as
well with my 195/70s.

If you are looking at snow tires in that size, I would stay away from that.
Even 185/65s are still too broad a footprint on a light car like a 405. I
went down to a 175/70 -14 snow tire last year and was very happy. I finally
got some steerability in low snow depths, something that I could not obtain
with my 185/65 Nokia Hakkas with studs previously. I used a brand called
Hankook, made in Korea, I think. Scored a pair mounted, studded, balanced at
USD $65/each, new, from my local tire guy.
