My 85 TD does not have an engine temperature gauge. Does anyone know if a
fitting a larger oil cooler than the stock helps performance, engine life etc?
other than that my TD is running well and strong at 175K miles. Thanks to all
who send advice and experience as I was relacing the cylinder head.
One last thing:
This may sound goofy, but after replacing the battery I put back all the
terminals except one that I had tucked out of the way. Today going in to look
at the oil leak I noticed that i had omitted to connect the one terminal that I
had tucked out the way. The problem is I don't know if it goes to the positive
or negative post! Even with it sitting unconnected it has not affected the
running or other electricals of the car. Nevertheless I am sure it is related
to something. The wire in question has red insulation and is encased in black
insulation tubing. If I remember correctly, presently the negative post has 2
connections to it and the positive has 3. I have a feeling this is a positive
wire, but since it is long enough to go to either post, I am looking for
confirmation from experts and/or those who own 85 505 TDs.
