This is a typical cluster failure, usally a loose ground. I'd remove the
cluster and snug all the nuts on the back that make the flex-circuit to
flex-circuit connectivity. At the same time removing it will exercise the
connectors if one of them has 'gone dirty'. There's a ground junction down
on the left side of the steering colum you might want to check the push on
connectors on. You have to remove the panel beneath the column.
