Very interesting. The "screamer" could be the blower fan but I think you'd have
noticed it earlier. I've had a tight or sticky starter solenoid make the starter
motor scream like crazy AFTER the engine started. Actually you can barely hear it
above the engine, but it just screams a way (disengaged) until you smack it with a
hammer and it shuts off.

As for the tach problem, I've been having that for months. I don't know what
causes it, but I think it's at the sender since nothing else seems to be affected.
It happens more when moving, but can happen at a stationary idle too.

Just thought of one other thing. Somebody said there's an electric vacuum pump
under there for the cruise control, so maybe it was running too. Will let you know
if I can think of anything else
