'75 504GLD Fuel Sender problem

Since getting my car back from its tear down I have had a busted fuel gauge.
It rests on the second to last fuel tank on the gauge. When the body work
was being done we dropped the tank to fix a small leak on the bottom. After
getting the tank back up in there the gauge wouldn't work. Just my luck.

Anyone have any ideas of what the problem may be? I am going to take a whack
at really cleaning the ground wire in the trunk this weekend and see if I am
lucky with that.

All the manuals I have don't even come close to describing anything back
there.

Any help with this annoying problem would be greatly appreciated.
