That's it. The mechanics gave me the terrible news : my 74000mi-N9TE head HAS a crack "inside" (ie at combustion chamber level, not just on the outside).
He couldn't find a used/reconditionned one : too few such engines here in France = too few potential customers, so just nobody has that in store... except Peugeot of course but the tag is about FRF 16000 / USD 3000 for a new one (without valves etc, of course, and that's without man-hours, either) !!!
I just can't afford that on a car that pops up a new cause for repair every six months...
Can anyone estimate how many weeks/months/miles may a cracked head hold before splitting up definitely ?
