Radio Shack sells a "Battery and Alternator Tester" for about $6.00 here in
New England. The unit has several color LED's to indicate the voltage output
of the battery and/or alternator. It comes with test probes so I cut the ends
off and installed a cigar lighter male plug (p/n 270-021B). The LED tester is
p/n 22-112. I'd would perfer a digital VOM but haven't found one as small as
this unit.
