Anup:

When I initially bought my Peuge (505 Turbo 86), it had pirelli racing
tires on it... very soft, low profile tires, and the ride was quite a bit
harder than I had had on my old Honda. When the time came to replace them,
I went with a higher profile tire, though with a harder tread (70k life)
and noticed a slightly cushier ride than with the original tires. My
mother had her tires replaced at the same time with a very similar spec of
tire, and she had had a lower mileage tire (though the same size) on her
car before, and she had noted a "significant" ride difference. I have
found that with the higher tread-life tires, you get a harder ride, and it
can be very significant for those of us who notice such things. Michelins,
I understand tend to ride harder than some of the others.

So, just from experience, your tire can make a world of difference in ride
and handling. If you want a softer ride, I would go with a softer tread
(35-40k) and a higher profile tire. You will note with the higher profile
that cornering won't be the same, however.... it's kind of a trade off....
performance or comfort.... you just gotta find what you like in the
ride....
