Problems with integrated foglights--need advice

1) I just purchased an 89 505v6 with those integrated foglights. They did not
work. I tried to trace the problem and found that there was no power going to
the working fuse for the foglights. It seems that digging into and under the
fusebox to find the problem would be a major problem, so I thought it might be
easier to simply wire the fogs to the parking or headlights, that way when one
of them comes on, it turns on the fogs as well. Are there any problems with
this idea?

2) I discovered replacing a foglight assembly will cost about $200 each for
the originals from France. Furthermore, each part of the assembly is grossly
overpriced as well, like $45 for the dinky metal frame around the glass. My
question, Does anyone know where I could find cheaper originals--if not, are
there any other foglights that would fit in the air dam that are cheaper?

Thank you
