I do not leave my DVM plugged in the lighter all the time nor do I see
any need to do so. I use it as test equipment for diagnosis only (with a
lighter adapter). I bought one of those LED meter many years ago, it
kept flashing between ranges, drove me crazy, returned it. Being an
electrical engineer, I have to know the exact voltage -:).
