505 Wagon driveline noise

Folks, HELP!
my 89 turbo SW8 had the U-Joint replaced a while ago to fix the "normal"
bad u-joint shimmy. I have since replaced the center section of the rear end
thinking that may have been the cause of continued
noise/shimmy/vibration/frustration. It is better, but not perfect. I read on
the list the other night that the drive shafts are "a common problem" for the
wagons.... I think the reference was to the splines/teeth going bad. I
definately do hear a louder than expected "clunk" when I shift into drive or
reverse (Auto Transmission).
So what do you think? What would you do to diagnose/fix this very frustrating
problem?
Also, are all 505 wagon drive shafts the same size/length? If that proves to
be the problem, can I use ANY driveshaft from ANY 505 wagon?
All ideas/thoughts will be much appreciated.
Mike
