Nobody is more aware of the problems associated with a defective alternator
than I, who last winter routinely burnt out headlight bulbs (4 or 5) and
totally ruined a battery before tracing the problem to an overcharging
alternator.
The local Radio Shack outlet didn't know anything about the plug in
electrical system tester referred to on the list . However, J.C. Whitney
lists a compact, plug-in electronic LED digital voltmeter(accuracy to
1/10th of a volt), part number 81NF3183T in their December catalog, at
