I've had the same problem with my 309 GT.
First the passenger rear side then the driver rear side.
It turned out to be the motor. And I have just the fix for you.
Remove the door cover/upholstery after you remove the door handle/ashtray
and the lockpin ring. Remove the power door lock motor. Now the tricky
part, believe me, this will hurt you more then it will hurt the motor. Get
a hammer and a common screwdriver. You will see a mark all the way across
the motor cap where the plastic was "welded" together. Beat the hammer on
the screwdriver all the way over this line untill the cap falls apart in 2
halfs. Be carefull not to beat to deap and to hard, you might hit vital
parts. After the cap has been opened, you will se the electromotor, a set
of sprocketwheels and a plastic pin that gets moved up and down. There is
also a place where the last sprocket gets connected with the pin that goes
up and down. There should be a little copper looking wheel visible. You
should see a spring that sits over this copper wheel. (it has a smooth
surface by the way) This spring should be loose (when listening to the
simptoms described by you). Get a long piece of strong wire (open
paperclip) and try to pry the spring back under the copper wheel, there is
a little notch underneath the copper wheel where the spring should be under.
After that has been done, put the cap over the motor back together with
some ducttape or so and get ready to test it. When you have made sure that
it works you can do the other side as well whenever it should stop working
(it will eventually). Put the motor back in the door and the upholstery as
well.

Good luck and I hope you have you power door locks back in shape.

Marco
P.S. This should be a 2 hour job
