Re: More Tires, Pirelli vs. everything else

Well, I have Pirelli HP's on my 405 and I have nothing but praise for
them! Well, almost. I'll be pro-rating them after only 25K on the road,
because the tread seems to be wearing really fast! Now, there are two
ways to look at that... one, the tires could be crappy at wear
resistance, or they might just be too good of a performer (i.e.
encouraging wacky driving). I like them a lot for their handling
abilities, but more importantly for their performance over those sudden
pools of water that Seattle freeways seems so prone to this time of year.
As compared to my old Michelins (scary on water), the Pirellis ideal.

I don't think that it is just a name--they're just good tires. You do
have to run them at around 38 psi to inflate them fully (?).

BTW, is the newer MXV-4 Michelin better than its older brother? I was
thinking about getting a pair. I'm looking for a tire that is quiet, a
good handler, non-hydroplaning, and long lasting. Is this a good tire to
fill those needs?
