Hi:
Hi, I am writing from El Salvador.
You have a great Peugeot site, and since you know quite a bit about
Peugeots, maybe you can give me some insight on the following:
A few days ago, I bought a 1994, 605 V6 3.0 with 45,000 Km (28,000 miles),
from the local Peugeot dealer, with a 1 year guarantee (Ocassions du Lion).
The car had a few problems after I took delivery (Air conditioning stopped
cooling, small fuel line leak, hard starting on the morning, and working a
little on the hot side). Even if I took delivery about 3 weeks ago, I have
only used it for about 5 days, while all these problems were corrected.
All except one were solved (running on the hot side).
Then I noticed oil on my garage floor, it was the automatic gearbox
leaking, so it is back on the shop.
My questions are:
Automatic Gearbox
The Peugeot dealer indicated that the gearbox has no gaskets, and therefore
the leak could not be eliminated. So they are installing a new one under
guarantee.
-Do you think the car may have more gearbox related problems after getting
a new box?
-How could it have developed a leak with so few Km, without having the
gearbox unsassembled?
Running on the hot side:
Is it no normal for this car to operate between 100 and 105 degrees
centigrade?
I have a '95 Peugeot 306 with a 1.8 liter engine, and it never goes above
90 degrees.
Forgetting this car:
Should I return the car and buy a new one instead? (a 306 wagon probably!)
