Brian ,
I have a V6 STI allright, but with no ABS. Is it possible, that they put ABS
rotors on the car, and din't install the optional ABS system with them?
This would mean that I'm stuck with the expensive rotors for no good reason.
Even if I could replace them with non-ABS, I would have to buy the whole
assembly, and it doesn't sound cheap either.

> I may have a pair of reground used ones for less.
If I decide to keep the car I'll take those $70 rotors (the dealer is
asking $190
for them here). I'll probably go for the $100 calipers too (dealer price
$244)
I received numerous tips and phone numbers from the members of this list,
thank you all very much. I will make some phone calls and calculations,
and if all goes well I can keep the car.
I bought this car for $200, two years ago. Since then I've been using it
every
day. I put 70,000 miles on it, (total 190,000) and I use it hard. In this two
years I've never had to crank the engine for more than a second to start,
and it never stalled on me once. I don't have to add any oil between oil
changes, and engine is surprisingly powerful (I wonder what's the official
HP on this thing).
I don't think it takes 10 seconds from 0 to 60. Above all, I like it
because it's
comfortable, reliable, and it has a unique "personality".
The two major problems are getting the parts, and finding a good mechanic.
I would love to do all the repairs myself, but I live in an apartment, parking
on the street, and I sold my big Snap-On tool box long ago.
I'm glad I found this list, with all the helpful fellow Peugeot owners. I
feel like
I'm going to rent a garage, get some tools and have some fun after all.
