Appears that my alternator is shot. My Pug left me stranded today with a
flat battery. (Stupid me for driving it four four days with the alternator
warning light on, but I don't trust anything electrical on this car anymore,
including the warning lights.) The battery charged up and tested o.k. Any
recommendations on getting a quality replacement alternator at a reasonable
cost? Would I be better to get my existing one rebuilt or to buy another
one off the shelf? The car has 111,000 miles.
Also, am thinking of taking out my next to useless speedo (needle wavers
like crazy) and getting it reconditioned at a speedo repair shop. Is this
overkill? Or are the results worth it?
