I've found the following procedure works without damaging anything:
After removal of the the arm rest, grab the two lower corners with you
fingers and give it a quick snaping pull of 2 inches or so, then do the
same midway, then do the same at the top inline with the inside door
latch, the snap in plastic piece to the latch will pop out. This is the
only sure way of removing that plastic piece without breaking it. If you
try prying it off, it may break. After all the plastic retaining plugs
popped, use your palm and tap the bottom of the panel upwards to separate
panel from the door.
