To access the chime in the Mi16, open the fuse door and look inside the
dash to the left and up. I'm not sure, but I think it's a white relay
with a hole in it for the mini-speaker. The innards are made in Japan by
Toshiba, which explains the wonderful sound. I put a piece of tape over
the tiny speaker to mute the piercing sound. It's still pretty loud,
though.
