A friend of mine is pricing out mechanics to rebuild or install a rebuilt
transmission for an '88 505 SW8 2.2 (non turbo).
The body/engine etc.is in very good shape, but the tranny died at 116K.
Any ideas. I have heard from a good shop I use that they would charge $1,500 to
rebuild the existing tran and $2,500 to install a rebuilt version.
Do these prices sound competitive ?
The car is in central/western New Jersey. The owner has lots of kids and not
lots of money.
