405 Engine Mounts Update

I'm writing to highly recommend the procedure I believe Tomas did a while
back to stiffen his 405 Mi16 Engine Mounts. I only stiffened one mount
(the rear) and it made a HUGE difference in the feel of the engine during
shifting and no change in vibration. It feels much tighter and never
"bucks" from 1st to 2nd now.

Here's what I did: Cut 2 rectangles of rubber from the sidewall of an old
tire, about 2"x3". Pry the engine toward the front of the car and place
the rubber on the back side of the mount; Pry the engine toward the rear
of the car and place the rubber in the front side of the mount. Mine was
a very tight fit and it took a lot of wrestling to get them in. Then I
put some giant zip-ties around the whole mount to ensure the rubber
inserts won't go anywhere. So far so good.

PS--Thanks to all for the tips on repairing my exhaust system. I got the
whole thing done for $25 and I'm hoping it will last another 100,000.
Maybe with a little more welding along the way...
