I started fixing the little things that are NG on the 84 505S auto sedan
67K miles bought recently for $500. This car will eventually go to my
sister. So far I replaced the A/C condenser fan (burned out), replaced
the fan clutch carbon brush assembly (stuck). Lastly I replaced the
throttle microswitch (shorted) ($2.00 from Radio Shack). However, after
the switch was replaced, the engine started surging at a 2 hz rate if
the idle is raised a little bit (microswitch open). If I shorted the
microswitch the surging stops. I have not spent time to find out why
yet. Any ideas out there as to what might be bad?
