front left strut squeking '87 505sti

Today I noticied a squeaking noise coming from what seems to be the
front left strut. Its sounds like a squeaky door hinge. I had the front
struts and rear shocks and springs replaced about 2 1/2 months ago at
Stevenson's in Bethel,CT (five star service, great prices). They allowed
me to use after-market parts I got at local parts store. I've got
completely wrong parts from every part dealer in the area, but have
found this one to be correct "most" of the time. The mechanic didn't
recognize the parts. The parts didn't look like the original parts but
apparently they fit. He did say he had problems getting the front struts
in. Could this noise be from incorrect parts, they don't seem to be
leaking.
