measuring coolant temperature

Hello,

the best way to measure th ecoolant temp accurately is to measure where the
measurment is taken on the engine, not in a radiator where the coolant
temperature swings immediately downward. Also, in the Mi16, the radiator cap
is over the expansion reservior, which will not even come close to showing
actual coolant temp.

If you can get to a radiator shop, have the fellow at the shop aim a
pyrometer at the thermostat housing (where the actual temperature probe
lives; the one with a single wire) and instantly, you'll see what the meter
should be reading. On mine, with a new thermostat, the temp was observed at
the spec of the thermostat, 190F or so. Of course, the guage in the dash was
off in the 160F range...
